Presenter

Andrew Lofthouse is Nine News Queensland's weeknight presenter, working alongside Melissa Downes.

Lofthouse joined the Nine News team in January 2009 as a Nine News weekend presenter and moved to weekdays when Bruce Paige retired from the news desk in June 2009.

Prior to joining the Nine News team, Lofthouse had been presenter of ABC TV’s weeknight bulletin for six years (2003-2009).

Following some time spent in the music industry and as a teacher, Lofthouse started his media career in community radio on the Gold Coast before joining the ABC in 1990, where he spent eleven years in radio before making the transition to television.

During 18 years at the ABC, Lofthouse produced and presented a broad range of programs for both television and radio including stories for Stateline and Australian Story. He’s conducted radio interviews while paragliding, abseiling, and even racing a car.

A founding member of '80s Brisbane band Lets Go Naked, Lofthouse is still playing with the band. He’s a keen runner and sports fan and lives near the beach where he and his family like to spend as much time as possible.

Lofthouse is an experienced public speaker and facilitator, having hosted numerous award ceremonies, business functions and conferences.
