iPhone function alerts police to crash in Tasmania

An iPhone feature has alerted police to a car crash that killed four horses on a highway in Tasmania overnight.
Five people were injured after a four-wheel drive towing a horse float crashed into a tree stump on the Batman Highway near Rowella Road at Sidmouth.
Police arrived on the scene within eight minutes after the Triple Zero iPhone Crash Function notified them of the crash about 1.45am.
The iPhone feature alerted police to the car crash and emergency services were on scene within eight minutes. (Apple)
The five occupants of the car, aged between 14 and 20, were taken to hospital.
An 18-year-old passenger received serious injuries and will be taken to Melbourne by air ambulance.
The horse trailer rolled during the collision and killed four horses. 
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
